Safety is paramount, and life comes above all else. In heavy rain, the immediate priority is to ensure the safe evacuation of personnel; equipment protection is secondary. Once equipment has been exposed to water ingress, the response window is extremely short, yet the risks are exceptionally high-an ill-advised attempt to power on can permanently destroy the entire machine.

In critical moments, calm and methodical action is essential. SNSTC has prepared the following three-step on-site emergency protocol. Please retain these guidelines for ready reference—they can prove invaluable when it matters most.

Emergency Protocol -Three Steps
Step 1: Preparedness Phase-Inspect, Remediate, and Prevent
The few hours before typhoon landfall are the only window in which risks can be proactively reduced. Before the storm arrives, complete the following inspections and reinforcements:

Clear drainage networks: Thoroughly clean all drains, floor gullies, and rainwater pipes both inside and outside the plant. Remove sludge and debris to ensure unobstructed flow. The drainage system is the first line of defense against flooding; if properly cleared, it can eliminate the vast majority of risk to your equipment.

Secure building attachments: Inspect every component such as workshop doors and windows, exterior signage, pipe supports, and open‑air canopies for structural integrity. Immediately reinforce any loose parts to prevent them from being dislodged by strong winds, which could cause injury or damage.

Verify electrical sealing integrity: Confirm that waterproof seals on power lines and distribution switchboxes are intact. Check that electrical cabinet doors are securely closed; install rain covers if necessary to eliminate risks of leakage and short circuits.

Assess the surrounding environment: Monitor adjacent river levels and slope stability to guard against secondary disasters such as flooding or landslides that may affect the plant.

At the same time, closely track weather warning levels and strictly comply with local flood prevention directives. When warnings reach the work-stoppage threshold, reschedule production decisively-personnel evacuation and sheltering must take precedence over all other considerations.

Step 2: Emergency Phase -Cut Power Immediately to Contain Risk
Once significant water accumulation or rapidly rising water levels are observed on the workshop floor, act with urgency-immediately disconnect the main power supply to the workshop and unplug all machine tool power cords. This action must be swift and resolute; every second of delay increases the risk of short circuits and burnouts.

WARNING: Under no circumstances should you energize or test‑run the machine while it is damp or standing in water. At that moment, energizing will cause instantaneous short‑circuit damage to precision components such as the CNC system, servo drives, and motors—turning a potentially repairable fault into irreversible scrap.

Simultaneously, close all valves on auxiliary lines, including compressed air and coolant supplies, to prevent contaminants from back-flowing into the equipment interior. After power isolation, do not remain in flooded areas; all personnel must evacuate immediately to safe zones.

Step 3: Recovery Phase -Professional Inspection and Scientific Restart
After power‑off, refrain from disassembling or applying heat/air drying on your own. Moisture trapped inside electrical components does not evaporate easily; using heat guns or wiping with cloths without proper technique can easily cause secondary damage to circuit boards or electrostatic discharge failures. Precision components such as servo motors and system mainboards must be handled by professional engineers with specialized equipment.
While waiting for the engineer to arrive, you may perform limited auxiliary operations under telephone guidance:①Gently wipe visible water marks from the equipment surface with clean cotton cloth or non-woven fabric.②Conduct preliminary cleaning of exposed moving parts such as guide rails and lead screws.
However, all such operations must be performed only after power has been disconnected and a professional has confirmed it is safe to proceed. All subsequent steps-including in-depth disassembly and cleaning, comprehensive anti‑rust treatment and lubrication, complete replacement of contaminated fluids, and low‑speed idle run verification before restart-should be carried out by SNSTC's after-sales team.
