Warm Reminder丨Dog Days Heatwave Alert! The “Summer Heat Defense Battle” for Las...

SNSTC 2025-08-01

In the height of summer, relentless heatwaves strike! As the “Great Heat” meets the “Dog Days,” extreme temperatures push your laser equipment to its toughest test of the year. Scorching heat, high humidity, sudden condensation, and coolant contamination… each could silently threaten your machine’s performance and lifespan.

Don’t panic! SNSTC proudly presents the “Dog Days Laser Maintenance Survival Guide” – helping you tackle summer risks, safeguard stable operation, and keep your laser equipment performing flawlessly through the hottest days of the year.

一、Three Summer Threats Triggering Laser Equipment Warnings!
1.Thermal Overload (High-Temperature Risk)
Risk: Soaring component temperatures can lead to unstable output power, accelerated aging of core components, and sharply increased failure rates, particularly in high-power models.
Case Warning: A customer experienced severe power fluctuations and a sharp drop in yield due to poor heat dissipation compounded by coolant contamination, resulting in significant production losses.

2.Condensation Hazard
Risk: Condensation on optical lenses can cause coating damage and optical path misalignment,  while condensation on circuit boards may lead to short circuits, burnout, and corrosion,
significantly shortening equipment lifespan.
High-Risk Scenarios: Starting up in hot, humid mornings, experiencing large temperature differences caused by air conditioning, or restarting the machine after it has cooled down, etc. Sudden temperature shifts are the main culprit.

3.Cooling System Hazards
Risk: Contaminated cooling water (algae and scale buildup) can clog precision microchannels, while abnormal pump operation and deteriorated water quality sharply reduce heat dissipation efficiency, significantly impacting overall machine performance.

二、 “Stable Summer” Core Maintenance Solutions
1.Thermal Management – Control Temperature, Protect Performance
Optimal Range: Maintain working environment temperature between 22-28°C; industrial-grade air conditioning is essential.
Space Clearance: Keep at least 1 meter of open space around the equipment for ventilation, and ensure ventilation paths are never blocked.
Ventilation: Clean air inlet and outlet filters weekly, and it is strongly recommended to install exhaust or fresh air systems to ensure optimal airflow.

2.Cooling System: Prevent Clogging, Algae Growth, and Degradation!
Daily/Weekly Monitoring: Check water level, inlet/outlet temperature, and water quality (conductivity, pH).
Regular Replacement: Replace coolant and filters every 3–6 months, shortening the interval in hot or humid conditions, and ensure a full replacement before summer begins.
Water Quality First: Use high-quality deionized water or specialized antimicrobial coolant; add algaecide as needed and test its concentration regularly.
Flow Assurance: Thoroughly clean the tank and pipelines during each water change; keep the water tank in a shaded area; ensure hoses are kink-free and leak-free; verify that the pump operates smoothly and without abnormal noise.

3.Lens Protection: The Essential Shield for High-Power Lasers
Material Selection: Use high-quality lenses such as fused silica, with low thermal lensing effect and minimal thermal expansion.
Coating Selection: Choose high-power specialized coatings with a high Laser-Induced Damage Threshold (LIDT) and excellent thermal stability to resist performance degradation under high temperatures.
Dust-Free Operations: Install and clean lenses only in a dust-free environment using specialized tools and cleaning agents.
Important Note: High-power protective lenses are consumables. During summer, increase
inspection frequency, monitor lens condition and transmission rate, and replace immediately   when service life ends.

4.Anti-Condensation Measures:Prevent Harmful Temperature Fluctuations
Stable Temperature Control: Minimize temperature fluctuations in the equipment room and keep the air-conditioning temperature difference below 7-10°C。
Pre-Heating: Warm up the machine for at least 1 hour before operation. During short shutdowns, keep air conditioning and cooling systems running at low power to maintain internal temperature above the dew point and prevent condensation.
Dehumidification: Turn on the industrial dehumidifier immediately when humidity exceeds 80%.
Sealing & Drying: Check cabinet doors and interface seals for proper tightness. Place moisture-absorbing desiccants in critical areas and replace them regularly.

5.Thunderstorm Red Alert— Safety Reminder
During thunderstorms: Shut down the machine immediately if necessary! Power off strictly according to procedure!Use surge protectors/voltage stabilizers to ensure power safety!

三、The Laser Safety “Three No’s” Iron Rule!
❌ Do NOT power on the machine if the environment is not up to standard (temperature too high, poor ventilation).
❌ Shut down immediately if condensation is found! (e.g., on lenses, windows, or metal surfaces)
❌ Never delay routine maintenance (cleaning, water replacement, lens inspection, pump checks).
